XP activation problem

I recently upgraded my computer with a new motherboard, cpu, and video card. XP asked me to reactive windows, but when I did it told me that I couldn't use my key anymore and had to use a new one. Then, I tried to email microsoft and found out it was going to cost me $35 to even so much as send them an email, which is rediculous. Am I doomed to have to buy a new copy of windows?

I think there is a 1-800 number you have to call. and it is free. when I upgraded my mobo I had to do the same thing as they consider it a new pc when you install a new mobo. they give you a new number which is ridiculously long, but it's free.
