mobo DX10 question

I'm somewhat ignorant for what is required for DX 10. I have an ABIT KN8 SLI mobo. I know my video cards say DX9 and I'm guessing they cannot be upgraded to DX10. My questions are:
1) Does a mobo have to support DX10?
2) Are video cards able to upgrade to DX10?

You need a dx10 capable video card and currently only the Vista OS supports dx10. XP Home/Pro will not run dx10. The mobo should not matter unless it's so old that it doesn't have Vista compatable chipset drivers.
