Hi, I have posted one message here...

This is my text:
"Hi! I am having similar problem now. I also have those red dots over black surfaces, but I have noticed that their positions are fixed: when I open some dark picture, and when I move this picture, those dots stay where they are - they don't move with the picture. So it is about some spots on the screen, the only thing is that those red dots are maybe not visible on light colors. I also tried to make a screen shot, and I can see those dots on the screen shot - I am sure of that, cause I tried to move screen shot picture, and I see red dots that are moving, and those that are not, and I can zoom in, and than red dots become larger. (They become larger only on screen shot, generally red dots have fixed positions and fixed sizes - they are all the same, just dots).

So I think it shouldn't be about monitor, it would be graphic card or power supply... I'm I right? Anyway, I don't want to open my computer, and try to fix it myself, it is a new computer, I bought it in June, and I have 2 years warranty.
"

I am sorry, if it is wrong that I am posting my message twice, I wasn't sure If you are going to read that previous post of mine. As I said, I don't want do this myself, the PC still has the warranty, but I want to know what is it about, so those guys from the servicing could not tell me some "fairy tales". But also if it could be something about software, I would like if you told me that. I mean if there is such possibility. By the way I have already tried to update the driver for video card, but than appeared more red dots, and I have also tried reinstalling the driver.

Thanks!

What kind of PC is it, i.e. Dell, HP, a laptop, desktop, etc...?
September 23, 2011 3:30:19 PM

Desktop PC, not laptop.

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E3400 @ 2.60GHz 2.60GHz
Installed Memory RAM: 4GB
System Type: 64bit Operating System
Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display

Display Adapters: WinFast GT 520 (NVIDIA)

I have tried installing update for graphic card, but then appeared even more red dots. Then I had uninstalled this update and graphic card driver at all, and there were no red dots. Now I have installed driver again, and red dots are here again, but in the same number as they were in the first place, but still when I open some black picture, or run some movie with a bit darker picture, I can see all these red dots over my screen. So the thing is that the dots are there, and it only depends how visible they are.

Also I have tried connecting the monitor to another PC, and there were no red dots on the other computer. -One more argument that is is not about the monitor I'd say.

If you needed some more information, just tell, please! :)  Thanks for helping! :)

Yep, definitely sounds like an issue with the graphics chip. Is it on board or is it an actual card that you can take out? If it is on the board, you'll probably have to get a new motherboard or just scrap the whole works. If it is an actual card you can pick another up. Either that or try running it without the drivers.

Hmm, I think it is an actual graphic card - at least that is what I've lately taught... Now when I try to remember what I was told while buying the PC, it is possible that it is on the board... :(  Is there a way to check this someway, but without opening the system unit? I will google it now too! I know this is my graphics card: WinFast GT 520 (NVIDIA) - this is what I read from control panel, it is also called GeForce GT 520. Can I find out it fron knowing the cards model? But after reading this ( http://uk.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-... ), I think I have dedicated card... I'm I right?

Thanks, I will certainly try all options! I have already run PC without the driver, and there were no dots, and resolution was smaller. Anyway, I will try, last time I installed the driver again thinking I is not supposed PC to be run without it!

Yes, it is an actual card that can be removed. It sounds like it could be a driver issue as well. Get in touch with Nvidia support to see if it is a known issue and/or if they know how to deal with it.

I tried uninstalling drivers, and after my mom wasn't able to play a game, I installed the driver again. :D  Then after restarting the computer, red dots were here in small number as it was after my last attempt, but after I shutting the PC down, and turning it on some time after, there were no red dots! :)  So there have been no red dots whole morning, and they are still gone. I didn't want to write here immediately, I wanted to wait a little (no it's 16:25 in my country). So all is fine now! :)

I have bookmarked your link, and if it happens to me again, I will write there. Thanks for helping, it means so much to me, cause if had left the PC to get fixed in the service - it would have stayed there for two weeks maybe (although this thing can be fixed in few hours I guess). This way it was all painless to me.

For me it was just a loose connection on the back of the monitor (Always start from the simplest solutions)
One newer hardware it is found to be a driver issue, but on a well tested hardware (Intel on board graphics) , it might very well be a matter of haste :)
