I have a dell laptop (Latitude C610 P3 Tualatin 1000 - wootz) that came with windows 2000 pro "2 cpu" licence, and i dont use windows 2000 for the laptop - i use xp, and im wondering, can i convert/modify and remake a new windows 2000 cd to use that licence on another machine? When i use the disc in any other machine it tells me its a dell only cd, is there something i can modify to get it workin as a normal cd?

Would it be legit if i downloaded a copy of windows 2000 and used my legit copy cause its going to waste...

And be legit, No. It's an OEM license.

Though, I did have a post somewhere a few months back on how to take that CD and make it a regular Windows Install CD. I googled and had found it/posted it.

You can search the forums for google for it. My stuff is all legit and I have no interest in that stuff these days.
