Hello all,

I live in a rented townhouse, where I can not really cut the walls open and pull ethernet cabling to all parts of the house. However, there is a full installation of TV Coax to every room, and of course power. I needed to figure out if I could leverage these technologies to provide something faster and more secure than wireless for situations where I need it (such as streaming HD video and very large backups).

After very disappointing experiences with the powerline networking solutions available out there, I finally found the ReadyLinks Coax-to-Ethernet bridge. I find that I can regularly push 60megabits with these things (I have four - one in the basement, and one in each bedroom upstairs) but every few days I have to reboot them because they lose their connection with each other.

Still, I would recommend them for your use if you have the need. They outperform even the latest HD powerline products hands down.

The ReadyLinks, to my knowledge, is an implementation of HomePlugAV-over-Coax. But it is MoCa that seems even more fascinating. It seems that Actiontec has finally come out with a similar Ethernet - to - Coax bridge, which is based on MoCa. Has anyone had a chance to evaluate or review these yet? I'd be ever-so-interested in your experience if you have...
