Howdy.

I purchased the EVGA 8800gts back in Nov when I built my new system. A very nice card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130071

I want to send the display to my TV as either an extended desktop or a clone.

The TV is a Sony trinitron 32" Wega flatscreen

according the the specs of the 8800gts card I have 2 dvi outs, and a HDTV / S-Video/Composite Out.

the card comes with a HDTV Cable and an s-video cable. the HDTV Cable fits in the slot on the back of the card but the s-video cable (also supplied) does not. Do I need to purchase a separate adapter to use the s-video cable?

the hdtv cable fits and has the 3 colored wires (red green blue) I do not want to use this cable as I already have my dvd connected to the component inputs of my tv. I have a free s-video input on the back of my tv and would like to use that instead. but, as I have stated, the s-video cable supplied by EVGA does not fit in the slot on the back of the card.

any help?

Jeff

S-video stinks. You should try use the component cable (RGB). You may need a dongle to get that setup, but your card should have come with it. Im not sure about the 8800. Just dont go with s-video.

To solve the looping prob, plug the RGB cable from your PC into the TV, and then just use your DVD drive to watch movies.

My eVGA card came with a special adapter that plugs in the card. The adapter has various video plugs, such as S-Video

I'm not happy with the 4 Noctua fans in place. They're not well adapted for my case and aren't moving much air.

I have four Scythe S-Flex ordered. When they come in I want to do a comparison test at stock speeds. Once that is done and if I am satisfied that the S-Flex are satisfactory, I will begin overclocking gradually.

I want to have a good foundation in place before overclocking. I'm not aiming for high. I hope to get 3GHz while keeping all fans at low settings for normal computer work, and 3.4GHz for demanding games.

The thing is right now, these days I'm playing Eve (2 instances on 2 screens) and getting very good FPS at stock clock.

Fishboi.. isn't 70C at load too high? I thought the recommendation was to stay 60ish max..?

Yeah, but never had a prob. The chip will automatically cut out and reset if it gets too hot. Happened once or twice when I was pushing it. At this level, it loads just fine. I am really happy with it. Major prob I have is with the BIOS version I have. It sucks. I think the 1307 is still the best.

Is your load temp running TAT or something else?

Reply to stefx

step 1 - unplug RGB cables from dvd and tv
step 2 - plug in RGB cables from pc to tv
step 3 - plug in S-video from dvd to tv

Step 4 = burn s-video cable

I'm using TAT, with load on both cores. Maxes out at 70, sometimes 71.
