I'm about to have a 51" RP Hitachi delivered with a built in HD tuner. I was
wondering what antenna would be the best to buy so I can pick up OTA
broadcasts. I live pretty close to a major city(Baltimore) and I'm pretty
sure I'm with 10 miles or so of their signals. Obviously I'd need a much
stronger antenna to pick up DC channels. In the meantime is there something
fairly inexpensive someone could recommend for the closer stations? TIA

Go To site: http://www.antennaweb.org

Enter your 5 or better yet 9 number Zip Code.

Hit the Digital TV stations only...

Read the Last Column to see IF your Dig/HD TV stations
are all UHF that's channels 14 thru 59....

IF yes a ChannelMaster 3021 4 bay bow tie ($25) in a closet should
do the UHF job well if chans are all in same direction...
Where 0 Deg is North... 90 Deg is pure East...

I've been using Radio Shack antennas for years with no problems. You should
get their VHF/UHF version. About $25, I think.

Thanks for the fast response. Okay I went to that site and all my channels
are indeed UHF. 5 of them(Baltimore stations) are at 3 degrees and are 14
miles away. 6 of them(DC stations) are at 254 degrees and are 25-30 miles
away. I probably could live without the DC stations as they mostly overlap
the major networks from Baltimore. Would that antenna you mentioned do the
trick? Thank again

Tried 5 or 6 of them - Zenith Slver Sensor was best by far .

Buy a Zenith Silver Sensor first.....

It is a UHF indoor, adjustable antenna for about $45...

If it does not get the job done.... The more directional

and better gain Channel Master 3021 UHF 4 bay bow tie outdoor unit

used indoor may work......

As far as both Baltimore & DC HDTV stations go.....

the back 'end' of an antenna works 2nd best....

Aim the Front approx toward DC, with the back side aimed

at a 'closer' Baltimore.... You may get both TV cities...but

an approx 'avg' angle difference of 180 Deg is Best....
