Silverstone TEMJIN TJ09; worth it?

I'm thinking of buying this case -- I'm not into case mods and probably never will be, but I want a quality case that I can use for years to come. My old one was like $60 and included a power supply, so I am a little overwhelmed at the price of this bad boy :D

Anyway, is it worth the price? And why? Where I am, this case is $340 -- alot to spend on the case alone -- it could be the difference between a 8800 GTS or a 8800 GTX (for example, since I am getting GTS ;)).

Sea Sonic S12-600 is another $100, so this brings the case / PSU alone up to quite alot imo... ?

Here in the states that case is $300 so you aren't paying too much of a markup and that PSU is a good quality unit, its price reflects that. It is quite a lot of money to spend, yes, but the case is massive, solid aluminum, and very well ventilated. It's all quality, so as long as you don't throw it off a building it should last for many years. Had I been able to save up another couple hundred I probably would have picked it myself. :D

Its a nice case for sure, but for $300 I would rather get a MountainMods case. They make some of the best cases, especially for water cooling. IMO anyway.

I think the TJ-09 is a bit of an overkill, unless your choosing it for something special in it's layout (e.g. ablitiy to keep a radiator in it or something like that) you could probably go a bit cheaper. There are plenty of great quality cases out there that are on the cheaper side, I can vouch for the Lian Li PC-7 series and I'm sure apt403 would agree with me however I beleive they are discontinued :( .

Just look around I don't think the Silverstone is what you need.

I can get a Lian Li CLASSICAL PLUS SERIES PC-7 case for roughly $120 where I am; will spend some time looking into it :)
Thanks for the suggestion, its exactly something like that I am looking for tbh; I HATE the fancy designs most of the "gaming cases" has these days, one reason I was seriously considering the TJ09 --- the design really appeals to me, and I currently have a HUGE problem with my old Geforce 6800GT crashing due to heat

Anyway, I am planning to spend around $1500 total on the rig (not including hard drive and sound card though), the reason I think $350 on the case alone to be quite expensive. I do recognise the importance of the case though; and the PSU is pretty much settled although I might go with the 500W model to save a few bucks...

Any other opinions? No Silverstone fanboys here with some persuative argument as to why the TJ09 -is- worth thrice as much as the Lian Li PC-7 ?

Edit* Also, just for the record.. I would rather not have anything with a window on the side :)

I have that case and let me tell you it was worth every penny. I paid over $400 w/ shipping to get it. It's elegant, massive, excellent build quality, and it houses my custom water cooling kit with ease. I build highend computer systems and this is the only case I will use.

The Temjin case can certainly be overkill for many people, but the reason I bought it was that it was lacking nothing.

In the future when I decide I want watercooling I will have room for a radiator in the case, or hose holes already in the back panel if I go external.

The seperate isolated section for Hard Drives is exactly what I wanted and a feature I did not see in any other case. This alone helps internal case temperatures stay nice and low.

The large size means it is easy to work in and it will accommodate almost anything that the industry engineers can throw at it in terms of future hardware.

The Motherboard tray is a must for me as I tend to change my internals very often. It is very handy to have access from all sides. Although it can get you in trouble if you have not disconnected all of the wiring that is attached to it from the rest of the components. I managed to bend a SATA connection... and almost give myself a heart attack.

It is extremely well engineered out of top quality parts, it will last a long time.

The machine in my sig is housed in a Silverstone Temjin TJ-06 and I believe Silverstone to be money very well spent. You get what you pay for. The TJ-06 is easy to work with, work in, move around, great cooling, and tool-less install. It's solid and sturdy, and I plan on holding on to it for a long time and using it house other rigs.

If you plan on only buying one case and using it for a number of years, spend the money and get what you think you might want to put into it two years from now. They might seem expensive, but aside from the Silverstone another option could be a Lian-Li.

Good luck!

That is who I bought from too. I had a problem with the power switch and I e-mailed and had a conversation with a real human and they had Silverstone contact me and send a new switch directly to my house. They are great!

Thanks for the great replies guys, but I think I am going for a Lian Li PC-7 as suggested earlier -- it looks to be what I need for a reasonable amount of cash.

Hmm, seems that good old Nintek (aus) was lying to me then, must be saying that as an excuse for their poor organisation, oh well, won't be using them again.

I got the PC-7+ for the exact same reason ShoGuL, My first PC had a side window, loud fans, and extremely bright green LED's all over the front. I bought the PC-7+ cause it's Simple, modest, light-weight for LAN's, very well designed, quiet, and Cheap :D . (plus there's a little bit of prestige in owning a Lian-Li ;) )

I mentioned before that you should only really consider the TJ-09 if you have a specialised reason such as korbin44 who got it to house his custom water cooling system. For the average user that's just running air cooling and has no other need for a massive case, the TJ-09 is most likely more than you need.

I've been liking the Antec 900 case. $89 at best buy sometimes, with no rebates...

How do you all feel about that case? I've seen a build using it that was pretty potent and still whisper quiet.
