cannot update

Have we lost the ability to update 98. I keep getting a a message everytime I try "Microsoft has emcounter a error. It will not do the auto updates online.

Check your date settings and make sure you have IE 6 installed.

I have all the dates set right and I can't have IE 6 untill I have the updates. I think there might be something wrong with IE 5 and I can't find it in add and remove to uninstall and reinstall. Bruce

Reinstall 98SE on top of itself. This will restore IE 6.0

If you only have 98, the reinstall puts back 5.0 (or 5.5?).

This is a eariler version of 98 SE and it did not include IE 6. I have already downloaded it by it's self and installed and now it is taking updates. Thanks for getting back. You guys are great. Bruce

Remember: You don't have to go to Windows update to grab IE 6. You can always download it from http://www.microsoft.com/ie

Win 98 never did include IE 6... the latest version of IE it had was 5.5. Not even ME came with IE 6.

Oh and that reminds me... Win 98 (First edition) actually came with IE 4.
