Been running them a week now and all seems good... so far. My fps have gone up signigicantly in IL2 1946. I finally cracked the 51 fps average on "The Black Death" demo. I've got on stick (gig) of ram on RMA to Patriot. When I get this back I'll run my 3dMark06 and post my score. Much more stable these days. I've been running CoDuty2 three days straight without a feeze, hiccup or drop. I'm finally one happy camper.
I'm still trying to find a working OGL file so that Jedi Knight 2 can run. Out of nostalgia I installed it but it keeps giving me CTDs and OpenGL errors. I'm pretty sure it's the ATi drivers, but I haven't found any old version that works.
You may need to ensure you have the latest patch to make it work.
I found old games need to be patched because the latest drivers are based on the patched versions (re-installed FartCry to test the effect of cryVision with more memory and needed 1.3 to run flawlessly).
I got 7.3 when they were released i'm using WinXP though. Oblivion plays fine, just bought Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars yesterday, game runs flawless, haven't played much else on them. No video playback issues either.
Word of advice, make sure you have the latest .NET framework, CCC 7.2 needed 2.0 or 2.1 i think, i didn't have it when i installed 7.2 i had lots of problems.
i got it last week. overdrive sucks in overclocking, and when playing BF2142 the AA goes from 8x to 4x when playing BF2142. And i miss the race car demo clip when changing the settings, now its some cheap pic :?
Maybe it's me ... but I don't think so ... seems 2 gens back on the drivers ran my BF2142 choppers alot faster in the game . Now they're slower on articulation and speed at the same settings ..... with a 3870 ! Go figure ! I'm still bitchin to EA games about the lousey settings they have for video .... to no avail .
