I have recently replaced my processor, when i turn on i get 1 beep and everything starts working fans hard drive etc, i get the screen that says "Press TAB to enter POST or DEL to enter SETUP", and wont go any further, when i press tab or Del, it seems that the keyboard isn't working, "but it is"

the reason for the change of CPU is because i recently tried to replace my noisy fans and somehow blew my CPU, so bought another 1 and another motherboard, its a amd 64 bit 754, the only 1 i could find is the Venice core version " the CPU that it replaced was a Newcastle core "ada3200aep4ax"

motherboard Abit Kv8- max 3
2 X 512 mb ddr 3200

I've tried replacing my motherboard using another KV8 i bought but it does the same thing

on the motherboard i get a post code error 52 test all memory (clear all extended memory to 0)

I've reset the cmos and took the battery out overnight but still does the same thing.
A friend has tested my ram and that works fine, tried with only 1 stick in, still the same problem

if any1 has any idea what i could try now would be much appreciated.

The website for the board does not indicate that it supports venice core. A newer BIOS may fix this issue.
The other thing to note is the CPU Voltage is lower on the Venice core and your board maybe juicing it too much.
But I would think that it is a compatibility issue with the BIOS excepting this CPU.

thank you for the reply shadow703793 & tegrat, ive been having a look around and found a bios upgrade for the KV8 so it supports the venice core (stepping e6) but i cant do anything so it looks like ill have to get a another cpu upgrade bios then put the venice chip back in,

any idea what chip will work straight away after i have cleared the cmos ?
i'm thinking a cheap sempron chip :-s

or should i just get a motherboard that supports the e6 stepping (the venice core)

( msi k8mm3-v )
