Good morning/afternoon/evening. I hope I am posting in the correct forum, as this is a hybrid question. I am trying to figure out if this card can handle widescreen resolutions properly. I'm looking into the LG 204WT (20" / 16:10 Aspect) Widescreen LCD. It's maximum native resolution is 1680x1050. That goes against the grain of what I'm used to seeing on displays. Here is what my 9800 Pro can handle according to the specs, in 256, 65K or 16.7M color modes:

640x480 @ 200
800x600 @ 200
1024x768 @ 200
1152x864 @ 200
1280x1024 @ 160
1600x1200 @ 120
1920x1080 @ 120
1920x1200 @ 100
1920x1440 @ 90
2048x1536 @ 85

My current ViewSonic 19" G90f CRT Monitor can handle native HD 1080p resolution of 1920x1080 as it's maximum is 1920x1440.

Is it safe to assume the maximum resolution I'll be able to do on the LG 204WT is either 1280x1024 or 1600x1200, or something in between? Can the video card even handle the "odd" resolution of 1680x1050? I can't find any proof whether this is an issue or not, either on LG's web site or ATI/AMD. I even googled using various words and phrases. I have no real-life experience with widescreen panels, only standard. Please advise. Thanks!

According to my catalist control center (im running a 9800)you can add a resolution to a force button to make it run non native res but it does warn that you may damage your display if you tell it to run at a res that exceeds the EDID limit

Mine is not an all in wonder, just standard 9800 pro 128mg. It is running a 22" in 1680x1050 with no forced detection.

Well that certainly sounds promising, heh. I see no reason why mine won't work as well since the cards are the same beneath the hood. Thanks!

Hi, found my original box and it lists the same specs as your first post. But winxp offers me alot of 'inbetween' options. You shouldn't have any trouble.
