Hey all... I've been struggling with a problem, and wonder if anyone else
has seen this.

I have a new ultravision Hitchi 57" 57F500 projection hdtv TV.

I've been dying from a start-up problem. On power up, I would get a
completely WHITE image, I would hear the sound of my station, and after a
few seconds the TV would shutoff. (probably a protection circuit because
it has detected an improper start-up) It doesn't matter the signal that it
feed in, if its standard CATV, HDTV component, RCA, or DVI... for that
matter...

The repair guys, have changed a CRT gun circuit board... The blue one...
and yet to no resolution... I've noticed, that if you remove the front
panel, you will see a control-panel with 6 turn dials... 3 of them adject
the intensity of the CRT guns, and the next 3 do alignments...

If you lower the 3 CRT light/power internsity to a low (almost black)
level, and start up the set, and wait a few seconds, will get an image...
and then you can properly adjust those levels to watch TV...

however, on the next long cold-start, you may not be able to start the
unit again... The symtoms are the same... on startup you get white image
and you'll hear sound... and it goes off... sometimes trying to turn it on
again will work... however, not anymore...

Capri Electronics have not been able to understand or fix this problem...
they have come, unplug one of those CRT boards, and plug it back in, and
voila the TV works... but if it is closed and left overnight, chances are
in the morning it will will turn on again... giving the same problem...

any clues? I figure you guys are 1000% precent smarter than those repair
guys, and I'd rather instruct them what to change, rather than from their
"guess work"... because my last CRT blue board changed, messed up
everything... and I had a "blue" haze around all figures on the TV...
ofcourse this didn't fix anything, and when it failed again, I called them
in, and had them properly adjust those guns...

please help...

I wouldn't bet on much smarter, but there may be someone with some
experience.

How new is this set? I thought this model had been out a couple of years.
Is it under warranty? Is the servicer a Hitachi ASC? Have they discussed
the problem with a tech at Hitachi? There are some very good people there
who are normally very helpful to techs in the field. What was the reason
for replacing the blue CRT bd?

I know there are some things to watch with respect to IC401, a good place to
be looking for a problem like this. Also there is a mod for micro lockup
and related problems. The servicer should know about these issues.
