More Information

We got some new laptops in at our office and I am tasked with installing client side of SQL 2000 on one of them. Every time I try to install it the installer says is cannot install because some other software that was supposidl installed earlier needs the computer to be restarted. I have restarted the laptop a number of times, tried logging on as admin but the same problem has occured.

It has had problems with getting the date and time automatically, which is why the computer was denied access to the server in our office. Other than that, I have updated it to the fullest and tried everything I know.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

dan

update: it says there is a pending file operaion, from an installation made previously. And I have to restart.

are you using an image or the OEM installation?

If you're an image, it's possible it's screwed up.

If you're using OEM, good luck.. they're not the best installs.

Check your Event Viewer for issues on that one.
