Looking to upgrade RAM - have questions.

Hey everyone - I've had my current gaming rig for about two years now, and I'm looking to upgrade to faster RAM, but I'm a little behind on my knowledge of memory, let alone what makes good gaming RAM today. My current ram is:

2 gigs of DDR 333 RAM

And at this point I'm looking to get 2 gigs that have a little more punch to them than the DDR 333. My current motherboard is:

LanParty NF4 Series Mobo

If any of you gurus out there can make any suggestions or dispense a little of your wisdom I'd greatly appreciate it :)

Thanks!

Changing RAM likely won't make a noticeable difference. Instead, consider upgrading your video card (and perhaps also power supply, as the new video cards require a lot of +12V power).

If the cpu you have runs a 333 fsb then ddr400 ram will aloow for better oc'ing. If it runs a 400fsb and you're running 333 memory, then you are hindering the performance of your cpu.So an upgrade to ddr400 is a good ideal. For added performance, you could also consider buying a better graphics card(no knowing your system specs makes this a guess at best)as a good graphics card can increase your performance in games significantly.Goodluck.

Dahak, his CPU (socket 939) doesn't have a FSB. Whether going from DDR-333 to DDR-400 RAM speed will make a noticeable difference depends on what apps he is running, but is unlikely, and so probably not a good idea. As you suggest, a better graphics card is the way to go for gaming performance.
