Changing cpu fan

when i was building my pc i was low on cash so i picked up this cpu cooler

well let me tell u its nice and silent but idk if its performing to good and i found a 120mm 4 pin fan in my old gateway case sitting in the closet. i was wondering is there anyway that i can put the gateway fan on the cpu cooler instead of the little asus fan.

well, u get ties, and u tie it on. if it doesnt fit, then it doesnt fit.

Ha! You got me, I thought PSU fan. Never mind. Is your cpu (central processing unit/processor) on the hot side? Zip ties works well on that.

well i have it over clocked from 2.8mhz to 3.0 and its running about 32C just talking to ppl on aim and when i game sometimes it reaches 40C.i got zipties rite here so i just take off this fan then just zip tie the 120 mm on?

Yeah, you can use zip ties to secure the 120mm fan on that heatsink. But I'm afraid that little notch to secure the 80mm fan in place might get in a way with fan 120mm blades. But try it anyways, you can zip it up from the 120mm fan screw holes to the heatsink by running under it.

its kinda late now but tomorrow i will try and i hooked it up and it does power up and its actually about the same or more silent then the 80mm and it covers so much more area and it even blows air down on the north bridge witch gets quite hot at times.

yea i dont really wanna pay extra for it and i could just zip tie in on this fan but id like to take it off.
