Hows this for someone who's not going to over clock much, if any. I am a gamer, building it mostly for Vanguard.

Very nice setup. Agreed, that RAM isn't necessary if you're not overclocking much. Great RAM for OC'ing though.

You could save some money by going down to a 4300/6300 if you need to cut a bit of budget. Both are still very FAST chips.

You could also ditch the SLI mobo if not needed and get a regular one......like a Biostar 965PT or a MSI Neo-F for cheaper.

Also, you don't really need the 640mb GTS for that resolution....you could get away with the 320mb card.

All those suggestions will cost alot less and still get the job done. Just something to consider.

I also want to make sure I future proof myself a bit, so I went with the 8800 GTS 640, if and when I upgrade LCDs. I read that the 320 hits a preformance window at higher resolutions, but how high is it?

I passed on the Corsair, because of folks saying that it hasn't preformed well the past few years, but I have run their memory in my last 2 systems.

Lets say down the raod, I have to again upgrade my video card (especially if I start with the 8800 gts 320), did I pick enough power in my PSU? Should I future proof myself more and go with a Seasonic or Cosair in 700s or 800s?

I figure I will keep this system as long as I have kept this FX-51 I have now from ABS (was cutting edge when I bought it 4 years ago)

Any specific MBs you suggest, and I don't think I am going to SLI, I just want to make sure 2 years down the road when I do upgrade my GPU, I have the amps

Gigabyte 965P-DS3. Proven winner of a mobo. Good layout, stable at stock, overclocks like a champ, isn't picky with RAM like some mobos, good BIOS and easy to understand, ALOT of people around here have one and swear by it. And a decent price too ;)

As for PSU, get something with decent wattage and alot of amperage on the 12v rails. Seriously consider an OCZ GameXstream 600w or 700w for a good price. If you want something top notch, silent, and efficient, consider the Seasonic Energy Plus 650w, or for modular the Seasonic M12 700w. All those I listed are great PSUs and will last. Varying price ranges though, but all will handle your needs.

Looks great!

But ditch that NEC burner.....bleck. Noisy, grindy sound. Get a Samsung SH-S182 instead.....pretty much same price but much quieter.

Other than that, good choices. :)

Good choices, but change back to the Centurian for your case - the Apevia is crap. Besides Samsung, BenQ is a good brand for burners/players. NEC is crap.

Finally, have fun!
