More Information

I installed an Opty 175 about two weeks ago. It replaced an x2 3700+. Whoopee... No muss, no fuss, drop in replacement.

Friday evening, (this is Sun. in Aus...) out of the clear blue sky the system re-booted and then proceeded to do a chkdsk. Did I mention that I am using Vista rc2 build 5744??? It has been stable for over four months.

So no big deal... I have a bad cluster. It cleaned up fine, and re-loaded. I turned off the PC and went to bed.

Sat. Morn I turned the PC back on, (as one would do) and it immediately went into another chkdsk. And suggested that there were memory errors. Now, this pc IS old, but... So I ran seatools. No dramas. And I ran memtest (4 passes, but what the hell. I've never had a memory problem before...) Not a problem.

Re-installed Vista, no problem. Outside of the royal PITA, that is...

Any clues?
