Greetings,

I have installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my spare HDD.
Currently I'm having 2 problems:

(1) Whenever I run mplayer, the following error pops up:

Error!
New_Face failed. Maybe the
font path is wrong.
Please supply the text font file
(~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf)

I've search everywhere for the font but can't find it (even in the repositories).

(2) I can't play quicktime movies from within Firefox (1.5.0.2) from web site like http://www.apple.com/trailers

Thanks in advance for all your helps.

Download one of the fonts from here:

http://mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html

and follow the instructions on how to install the font.

Hi linux_0,

Thanks for your help.
The error is removed.
But, I didn't installed the font from the web site.
I just follow the instructions given and use any True Type Fonts already installed in my PC.

I have another question regarding mplayer,
I noticed that if the email attachment is using .WMV (capital letter) the default player is Totem, and if the file is .wmv (small letter) the default player is MPlayer.
How can I set the file type to use one default player like MPlayer?

Thanks again.

Which email client are you using?

Each email client and web browser has it's own settings for handling different file types.

Thunderbird for example normally prompts you what to do with each file type and you can set what you want done with each file type there.

Edit -> Preferences -> Attachments -> View and Edit Actions...

shows you a list of default actions and allows you to remove or change actions ( but not add ).

Hi linux_0,

I'm using Firefox to read my emails (GMail).

Everytime I downloaded an attachment (in this case .WMV or .wmv) the browser would ask me what to do with the file. I normally choose OPEN with (using the default player). The question is, I can't set the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" as the box is disable. If not, I would have able to set the file type to use onlt 1 player.

Anyway, for my second problem, I have solved it by symlink all the files inside mozilla/plugin to the firefox/plugin folder. So far everything works just fine!

Thanks again.

You should be able to specify what action to take right there.

In Firefox you should be able to go to:

Edit -> Preferences -> Downloads -> View & Edit Actions...

and change the settings
