XP Boots then say explorer has encountered an error

I have a toshiba laptop with xp home. After it boots, as soon as the desktop comes up I get an error meessage that says: Exployer has encountered an error and must be closed. When I hit ok, the start bar disappears and there is no icons on the desktop. The only thing I can do is ctrl alt delete to get to the task master. Any suggestions?

yes, I fixed it. Had to run system restore from the msconfig command. Thanks for your reply
