If i have an unactivated version of windows 7 Home Premium would I just be able to purchase a Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc and upgrade. Also if i could would it be "Genuine". If i need to activate Home to upgrade is there any cheap ways i could do this without paying $99 to do so?

Thanks in advance!!!!

You have to pay to be legal, one way or the other. Just buy a legal retail version and get it over with.

If you have a genuine home premium installed, you will have an option to do an in place upgrade to professional . You will have to pay(don't know how much) for an upgrade key.

Is there some feature of professional that you need? Most home users don't need professional.

If you are a student with a .edu e-mail address, you can get ultimate for $30 or so.

Is there a reason that you'd need to use Professional? Are there features that you need that Home Premium does not offer?

If not, just use it and enjoy the previously unused OS.

"unactivated version of windows 7 Home Premium" does not sound legal to me.
