Anyone running a RAID with the native NVIDIA controller that come as part of the 680i chipset?

Would love comments and throughputs, especially if running RAID 5.

Anyone doing it with 64bit Vista?

I run 3 Raptors as Raid 0 on the 680i and the transfer rate is crap.

Just like the reivew http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/03/the_southbridge_battle/
mine caps out at 118MB/s. I put 2 older raptors in my wifes Nforce4 and she has the same transfer rate as my 3 raptors so the transfer rate seems to cap out at 118.

I had an Asus Striker Extreme and I am going to RMA it because the RAID array cannot be configured to be drive 0 - it is always the LAST hard disk.

Therefore, the OS drive can never be C: if you are RAIDing it, and if you put another HDD in, the whole machine will often fail to boot if it decides to make a different disk Drive 0.

Talked to Asus and they wondered why I thought that was a bad thing.

Never buying asus again...

I wound up ditching the 680i due to horrible RAID performance. I am now running a P5B with the INtel Matrix RAID and it boots no problem.

The trade off, no SLI, less PCIe lanes, and a way better onboard RAID.
