Security Software Bundle?
I am looking for security software and I was wondering if there is something like a bundle with all sorts of useful applications? Like a firewall, virusprotection and so on? Can anyone help?
What version of Windows are you running? If you are running XP, you have a firewall already built right into windows.
I would reccomend not buying a software based firewall instead, buy a hardware firewall. Look at products from Netgear, Linksys. Good products and easy to install.
As for an antivirus, AVG is a good one. It is lean and runs well.
Hardware firewalls are expensive, and so not for everyone.
If you are a home user I would recommend just using the free versions of
Avast 4 Home, Zone Alarm, Adaware, Spybot
Also a good backup strategy is the best security.
I use True Image for my OS and EMC Retrospect for personal/business files.
Quote:Symantec offers a security Suite: Norton Internet Security 2006.
tjhe packages comes complete with AntiVirus and Firewall, as well as a bunch of other programs that take up a few extra task of protecting your 'puter from all kinds of nasty programs and attacks.
Thanks, I got that and it works a charm. Pretty easy to use, too. I like the regular updates, makes me feel safer.
Ok people, a few tips for those of you who want to actually remain "safe".
1. Never EVER buy anything with the words Symantec, Norton, or AVG in it if you plan on using it as your main form of protection. I use Symantec and AVG as backups, but I would never totally trust them for protection.
2. For an all-in-one, go for Zone Alarm Security Suite. It contains Firewall, AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, IM Protection, Email Protection, Program Control, Identity Protection, and Parental Control, all in one nifty package. It's not a system hog either.
3. For Spyware, I would also recommend Spybot- Search and Destroy. It's an amazing application that is capable of rooting out almost all the spyware and malware on your system.
4. For other HDD upkeep, I redommend CCleaner, and RegCleaner. These useful apps delete uneeded registry files from your PC, giveing yoo much faster boot times.
