Currently I use RealVNC because it was the first version I came across.

Not a very good reason, but it is getting the job done.

So I am curious what other people's favorite VNC version and why they like it.

Iif anyone knows of an article where the various VNC options are compared I would be gratefull.

Also if is using a better (and free) alternative to VNC I wouldn't might hearing about that either.

PS I am already well aware of Windows Remote Destkop Connection, and Remote Assistance and I use these options when appropriate.

TightVNC. Small, light, fast, as configurable as you want it to be.

Have you ever compared it to UltraVNC.

Thats the one I am going to try out next.

I have used UltraVNC with some Windows boxen as it is indeed easy to setup. Really, there are a lot of similarites between the two, they are both really small, they are both "automatic quality selection based on network speed" capable, and they both come in either an installable package or the standalone exe's/libs. You can't really go wrong with either.

Thanks, I will compare features and give both a spin .

I think I saw them both at sourceforge, I always try to stick with open software when practical. :)
