it is not hard but just tricky, be gentle all the time, always look at little plugs and wires, as tou remove panels, etc.... you have to double check the fsb specs that your mobo will accept.
sometimes the mobo is capped at 667Mhz, so if you install a 800Mhz it might not work...o
Do your homework.
when you take a laptop apart for the first time You ahould take pictures( lots) step bu step. and itemize all the screws to remember where they go.
there is anywhere from 45 to 70 screws in a laptop.
Bye have a great time.. LOL

wa1. Are you in the biz of laptop repair,,, I do play a little with them. I havethe base of an IBM T-60 picture on the link you can have a look at.
In fact the cpus on most laptops are quite interchangeable, you have to match socket sizes and pick the proper cpu that your motherboard will support. Do your homework first. You need some smaller phillips screw drivers, silver paste, lots of lighting, and patience.
I have replaced a dell 1501 laptop motherboard within 1 hour taking my time. I am sure that it can be done way faster if you are a real technitian with exerience.
I will now waste too much time on this, not worth my while...
Just wanted to show you the facts, the whytish square thing I call it the cpu cradle, and below tou have the spot for the mini pci slot wifi (wireless) card.
Hope this helps...

you are absolutely right, mario...
I'm sorry about my last post, i said that 'cause laptop is hard for modifications, like u said above...
I think PC modification are more fun then a laptop...
Correct me again if i'm wrong, mario...
Thanks to u.
You are accurate, WA1
Laptops are quite intimidating. I suggest that if you have a proper working laptop it is best to leave it alone…. Unless, you are ready to take a chance on the modifications, and you have money to buy any parts that get damaged in the process….. I have done it… LOL
Very often on the laptops you have to fix the power female port on the motherboard, it is tricky because most of the time you have to totally dismount the motherboard from all other components in order to remove the broken plug or to re solder the existing one.

Even if you know exactly what you are doing, it is quite common to have things go wrong, like the really small flat connectors kinked or frayed that are in the newer units.

There is a Google search result for just about any make and model laptop fix on the web….
Use the YouTube search engine as well…
Cheers…..
Have a great time messing around with your machines….
