well? where are they?

when i bought this card it was a fantastic mid/high end solution for the price.

now im thinking of throwing another card in my system for sli goodness (or selling up and going 8 series i cant decide) and the cards are very few and far between.

in fact the ones i can find are pretty much the same price as when i bought mine 6 months ago!

there are plenty of 7600gt's, 7900gs's, 7950gt's - cant move for em, 7900GT seems to have disappeared.

You are in the exact situation we often talked about here. SLi for the future isn't as good as it may sound. One, supply drys up, so you must look used. And Two, you would be better off selling the 7900GT and using a single faster GF8800 instead. That's my advice anyway...find a great deal on a used one, or sell yours and buy a better G80. (Besides performance) Feature wise, with better IQ (AF), DX10 and FSAA+HDR support, a single G80 is the better option.

7900GTs are not needed anymore.

Bingo!
@ the OP-with the 7900GS, X1950Pro and the 7950GT there is no room for a 7900GT price/performance wise.

this is true - but only because they wont knock down the price of the GT!!

they are still around £200.00 - the same price as a 8800GTS 320mb, stupid if you ask me.

i guess the cores are now being used for the GS (around £110.00?!) and the 7950. Surely with the same memory bus and only a coupla pixel shaders disabled the GS cannt be miles behind in performance - well its not, look at the benchies!

Surely they should be marketing the GT at around £130.00 - £150.00 (150 for OC'ed versions) and then they might have a sale outta someone like me who would happily sli whilst waiting for the 8900

ah screw it i'll wait for the rest of the 8 series and make a decision then

Here and here.

Here is one in the UK for you.

They are all hiding under rocks, just use the power of google.

Guess i should have checked your uk link before my rant! £130 is a good price, thanks.

do you think its a good idea to stick a BFG in with an XFX? and will my Hiper 580W cope?

I have to second this. Selling your 7900 and buying an 8800 is the only sensible course of action.
