Heres my setup.

-BIOSTAR GEFORCE 6100-M9 Socket 939
-ASUS EN7300GT SILENT/HTD/256M
-PNY Optima 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400
-AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2.4GHz Socket 939
-ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro
-430 watt psu

My ram timing is sitting at 8-3-3-3 or 3-3-3-8 i cant remember. its the stock setting of the ram.

My motherboard software has an over clocking ability and i was able to over clock it to 2.78 but backed it off to stock cause i didnt think it was that easy to over clock. I have read up about timing and am a little confused but know enough to be dangerious. I am not looking to go crazy with the over clock but i have been told i could over clock it to 2.8 safely.

Also when i installed everything my cpu was sitting at 36 degrees c and i was getting roughly 100 fps on a video stress test on a game. at the time I did not have my ram set up dual channel. when i realized that it was not i set it up dual channel. I am now only getting 57 fps on the stress test and I am running at 42 degrees c. I am not over clocking anything at this time and all the setting have been put back to normal. ideas?

Thank you for any help in advance.

Ok well i over clocked my machine last night.

overclock1.jpg

i got it to 2.7g last night with no ram change or voltage change. I would like to get it to 2.8g but when i changed the bus speed from 225(2.7g) to 230 it rebooted. so i am thinking this has todo with the ram timing or the voltage needing a small bump. would appreciate any help. thank you.

Yeah this has to do with your memory thats holding you back. Your running that ddr 400 right now at ddr450 so you basicly maxed out your memory. You can do two of things. Either Ratio your memory (for got what its called someone help me out here) or you can up the voltage on the memory by .1 to .2 volts and see if it can handle the 2.8ghz.

If all that doesn't work.. Ratio the memory and put the vcore (cpu voltage) to 1.5v - 1.55v and see if your able to get your 2.8ghz Then after that work on your memory again and see if you can stabilize that.

Just let you know be careful i fryed my 3500+ at 2.95ghz with vcore of i think it was 1.575-1.6v so yeah just stay cautious only over clock it to the max if u have the cash to order a new one like i did.

ok I have now a 4000+ San Diego like your in 2.8, so you need to bump a voltage to 1.425v FSB to 234 HT Link to 4X and memory speed slow down to 166 MHz that equal 333 Mhz, with that settings your oc is finished in 195= DDR at 390 MHz. Is safe not to pass more tha 400 Mhz in memory speed. But if you can't maybe your memory hold you back or maybe you mobo but I'm not sure. I use low latency memory 2-2-2-5, but tryit.
