Hi,

Currently over clocking my X2 4200+ to 2.61GHz. Motherboard is an Asus M2N4-SLI with 1GB of Corsair DDR2 667MHz memory.

The system is noticeably faster at 2.6GHz as one would expect, but there is an occasional 'lag' as if something (memory?) cannot keep up with the increased bus speed (237.824MHz @ 5x for HT, 11.0x for CPU). Or maybe that is just my imagination?

Ran the NTune stability test for ten minutes and it made 33 passes with no errors. Can't say that I notice an increase in the amount of heat that the processor generates.

So, I guess my questions are 1) Is it safe to run the processor at 2.6GHz for an extended period of time with the stock heatsink, and 2) Can I push for 2.8GHz or possibly even 3.0GHz without overheating the processor?

Also, 3) NTune tells me that my DDR2 667 memory is running at 792MHz with the over clock. Is this pushing the limits?

Hmm THe highest I have pushed my 4200 is 2.5GHz. I am funnily enough in themiddle of trying to tweak everything... I am currently on 2420MHz, and gradually pushing up to 2500. I had pushed to 2.6 but my system crashed within about a minute :(

Sadly mine is a s939 and I am only using DDR400 memory so I doubt I could push mine as far as most...

my 4200 is curently at 2635Mhz stable for 10 hours w/Orthos. No errors reported.31c Idle 50c 100% loaded! Volts 1.5 Hey Chilli are you runnin a Memory divider? Upped your volts?HHT X3or4?This new MB made a big differance from my old A8N-E that I couldn't get past 2.54. Also a Quality PSU WILL make a differance with OCn.
