Windows will only run a chkdsk on a bad shutdown or restart... and only if it detects possible file system errors. If you are using FAT32, a disk check will run after every improper shutdown, but NTFS is much more stable and resiliant.
is there any provision to check whether windows has done a disk check on its last reboot??
I have a machine installed with Windows 2000 Server. There was a couple of reboots initiated. And I didnt see my machine booting up and I dont have any idea about whether it has done a chkdsk. But I want to find whether it has run a chkdsk during those reboots.
Check the event log... that should tell you whether or not chkdsk was run... also right-click on the hard drive, hit properties and it should tell you when the disk was last checked for errors.
