installation problem: cannot copy files

Hi

I was beginning to re-install winxp --- I left while it was reformatting --- when I came back the screen said "setup cannot copy the file ks.sys"

I pressed enter to re-try -- now it had the same error message for several other files (modem.sys, parport.sys, wdmaud.drv, pjlmon.dll, etc)

I kept pressing enter, and eventually the progress bar reached 100%.

But after the pc rebooted, I was back where I started (Again I was given a choice in which drive to install in; whether to reformat the drive as FAT or NTFS, etc)

Sounds like problems with the disk... is it a copy? Try reburning your cd or using a real Windows cd, that could solve your problem.

i have the same problem... setup cannot copy files kodak.etch... so id try to enter it dn't work... then i try again another cd XP home license it dn't work so i try again another cd XP pro dn't work and try again another DVDroom dn't work so what is the cause of that setup cannot copy file???

It could be trying to copy to a bad spot on the HD.

RAM can cause these errors too.

Try running memtest to eliminate.
