Okay Fella's I got into a world of trouble I partitioned my 40 GB hard drive as a backup. I was trying to backup it up on an external 200 GB hard drive. My problems is I now have a hard drive that's partitioned in Three section.

It's a Laptop so the original software is installed in one section
My documents are in another
And last but not least my backup of the documents

how would I go about undoing the partition so I only have two?

My original software and my documents.

Two ways:

1. If everything fits into the first partition, copy it all, delete the two remaining partitions, and create one in it's place.

2. Grab yourself a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD (google it, I'm lazy) and run some of the repartitioning tools. Alternatively, you can use Partition Magic by Symantec.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,
