I own a legitimate student copy of Windows 2003 Server R2. Recently I've bought new SATA HDD and wanted to install Windows on it. When it comes to activation part I was surprised by the message which says "Cannot activate this copy of Windows another time" (or something like that). Is there a way to TRANSFER activation from the old system to the new one? I've tried coping 'wpa' files and changing WPAEvent registry key (under normal and safe mode), but still "You have to activate blablabla". I don't want to use any pirated key or crack IF there is other way to transfer that activation. I also don't want to "ghost" my old system into new disc.
Any suggestions?
You should be given an option to register via phone.
Tell the MS rep. your hard drive failed and you reinstalled the software on a new hard drive you installed in your original computer.
They will give you a new key.
Also have you used all your CAL's client access licences?
