Can I use disable Network connections in the Control Panel to disconnect my internet connection. Advantages and/or disadvantages. Does this really disconnect the internet, any software issues like corrupt stuff with enabling and disabling acouple times a week? I'm using XP 2nd ed. Seems fairly simple to just disable the conn.

It should probably diconnect your connection if your modems connected to a router but why would you want to do this? You can control your connections through your firewall, i.e., force your E Mail and Browser to ask permission everytime they try to connect to the NET. When you close the program the connection is brokern If your firewall won't let you do this, you can get the free version of ZoneAlarm, which will. If your using Windows firewall, suggest you get ZoneAlarm and disable Windows. Only run one firewall at a time.
