Hey guys i have the asus p5b-e mobo with a core 2 duo e6300. It is at 3.01ghz on air fsb 430, stock voltage, ram is mushkin 6400 at 860mhz2.1v. Everything runs stable and great in the OS but when i turn it on it does that thing where it powers up and then down right away, waits 4 seconds, and boots up fine. Temps at 42idle and about 56 after a long time at full load (but that doesnt seem to have anything to do with this). When i restart the computer it does the same thing, powering down, waiting, turning back on for the restart. I have heard that this is normal after a bios change but now it does it every time. System is 100% stable too. what gives?

I have a similar situation with my P5B deluxe. The sympton you described occurs only if I overclock the system. I suspect it has to do with the power settings in control panel. I would like to know the answer too? Anybody.

yeah i didnt notice it until i went over a certain fsb level when overclocking. I'd like to stress that the system is running excellent, but I just would like to know why it is doing this, and if it is hazardous or not to my hardware. I run @ 3.01ghz 24/7.

My P5B Deluxe has the problem no matter if I use a Thermaltake 700 watt quad 12v rail or an Enermax 535w dual 12v rail. Only occurs when I overcock heavily. Either PSU has enough power to power the system handily.

This question has been discussed on ASUS website forums. Maybe a quick search on those forums will turn up the answr. I seem to remember it's the MB causing this to happen, but I can not recall why?
