8800 GTS 320 for $260?!

So I was just checking out newegg and noticed this eVGA 8800 GTS 320 for only $260. The next closest at newegg is $320... am I missing something? I've see people around here that suggest eVGA as a very quality brand. I know that there are levels above this card right now, but for a card with the same stats for $60 more sounds odd to me. I've been eyeing this card as part of my new system and I have a strong urge to buy it because I haven't seen it this low. Please let me know what you guys think because it was kind of shocking to me.

Thanks

Edit: I just noticed the next eVGA card that costs more is clocked slightly higher. Either way, isn't that still a great price?

It's been that price for a while. I bought the same card a few weeks back from Zipzoomfly for $260 after $20 rebate but with free shipping. It also came with the full version of Dark Messiah. Too good a price for me to pass up.

I gotta laugh at some of those reviews those guys wrote. One of them said the "ATI" tech told him what to do to get his card working right. Amazing, doesn't even know what he baught. Their's a douche bag in every crowd.

I'd say, if you have an older card that doesn't perform with the newer games, or doesn't play well with the games you like playin, that $260 price tag is a good deal and I wouldn't pass it up. Go for it.

At that price is UNRESITIBLE!

But, I have a question, if you have a card like me, 7900GS KO HDCP, and have some money to buy an upgrade, what would you do?

Get this 320mb 8800GTS or save up for the GTX? (now)

Or just wait for R600 to come and see how the prices of NVIDIa go DOWN DOWN DOWN (1 month from now)

or

Wait for the 8900GTX to also see the 8800 go down down down plus R600 making it go down even more (this will happen but in like between a month and two)

I would wait 3 months and then once the dust settles, make my decision .

7900 is a good card by any standards , so you should wait it out .

Im planning to see the prices come down, specially since in couple of days the new 8600 series are coming out :)  making higher brothers to come down in price.

Mmm, I just bought the PNY one for $250 after rebate. Go go Bill Me Later!

Not a bad price at all for that card.I'd grab it now if I were you.As for the quality, well EVGA is very well known for its use of high quality components and lifetime warranty coverage on video cards. Not to mention their 90 day step up program which allows you to trade in your gts for a gtx and only have to pay the actual difference between the cards.have fun.

Well, I have an excuse. I didn't need to go X1950XT to 8800GTS 320MB. That would be somewhat dumb. But I bought one of those Matrox triple head 2 go adaptors for surround gaming, and the ATI X1xxx cards only suport 3D resolutions of 3-800x600 screens or 2400x600. My best NV card was a 7800GT, which supports 3- 1280x1024 screens, (3840x1024), but obviously lacks all power to do it. I really need dual 8800GTX to run those three, but I grabbed the 8800GTS 320MB as it was $90 less than the 640MB at the time and I am willing to tune things down as need be as long as I can push the res.

BTW, I posted it before, but here is my first wide screenie playing Oblivion on three monitors. Problem was it was on a 6800U  as that was the easiest to set up at the time. 3072x768 medium details and my fps hovered in the mid to low teens.

To be real, I was planning to get an 8600GT first, but now with the 8800GTS prices, my mind has changed a little bit :)

Same here. I was waiting for the 8600GTS but then realized why buy that card when you can get the 320mb 8800GTS for roughly the same price. I ordered the EVGA 8800GTS just a few hours ago and its allready on step 5 so it should be here monday or tuesday. :D

Yeah lol, 3dmark scores will skyrocket but I'm looking forward to playing Company of Heroes at 1600x1200 with full detail. *drools* :D

Thats nothing for the 8800GTS ;)

260$ card is the one that comes on stock speeds. Other company overclocked cards are expensive. then 260$
