8800 Vista drivers, What's the story?

I've heard people complain about vista drivers for the 8800. And i'm getting a free copy of Vista cause i like the whole interface, so i'm just wondering if the issue with this GPU is just minor or a major problem.

I don't care if my games runs like 10 frames slower than XP since my system is good enough. But will i have graphical glitches or games just not running at all?

And also are the issues about the same with 32 bit and 64 bit since i don't want to get 64 bit if its more fucked up.

Generally, the driver issues are more ironed out now, and performance is above XP levels in many cases. 64bit support overall still seems flakey though.

I just recently bought an 8800gts 320 and installed it in a clients computer. The card was an EVGA built card and it came with a VISTA driver disc as well as a win2K and XP driver disc.SO far so good.No issues to report yet.

I recommend staying with winXP for a few more months.Just until service pack 1 comes out.By then most issues should be ironed out.

I was constantly getting that "nvlddmkm has stopped responding" error.

I think its just luck tbh. Some people have gotten away scot free.

I have switched back to XP x64 for now.

i'm glad to hear its pretty stable now.

If i have the core 2 duo do you guys think i should go 64 bit or just get the 32 bit version?

I never had a problem with the BETA drivers and Vista. Regardless the WHQL 8800 drivers are very stable. If that's what's holding you up, then upgrade today.

if you think M$ is going to release a service pack for Vista anytime soon, you're sadly mistaken. try 1-2 years.
