Hey all

I am looking at getting a new graphics card as soon as next week.. I have it narrowed down to 2.

eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB SuperClocked ($390)and the
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320MB PCI-E Extreme ($370 before $15 rebate)

I know people love evga for the step up but I ma not sure if i owuld be doing that as money will be tight asmy daughter will be born then and well priorities will change...

I look atthe stats for each especially the memory bandwith and XFX is higher for memory bandwidth but hte evga is s smidge higher for the shader clock and core clock.... But would the XFX be able to match that if overclockd??

I would get the EVGA version as EVGA uses high quality components as well as having a lifetime warranty, and there is the 90day step up progtam which allows a person to trade in their video card for a better one and you only pay the differnce between the two cards. So if you pay say 300 us for the gts version and you want the gtx version which sells for say 600 dollars, then you only pay 300 for the new card. Not to mention EVGA has awesome online and phone tech support 24hrs.a day 7 days a week.Goodluck.

ATI Video Cards R600 coming out this may. They already tested a pre ATI R600 vs Nvidia 8800 GTX and ATI clearly beat nvidia in all game bench marks. All games it looked better on ATi like always, And these pre R600 drivers were not optimized during bench marks. So these cards will be even much faster than Nvidia once optimized.Wait for the release, then check back in toms hardware for new benchmarks with ati optimized drivers then make a decision. U dont want to throw your money away on a nvidia when ati will outperform nvidia once again.

Don't be a moron.

Those are old, and so fake, it's not funny.

@ OP
Both are good, and very known brands. Go for the eVGA, they have a step up program that could be useful for you.

Eh...you don't need the factory overclocked ones, you can overclock it yourself if you need the extra power which I doubt you will.

Here's an eVGA one on newegg for a VERY good price:

If it was me though, I would wait till R600 is released and see how nvidia counters their prices against ati. I'm sure they will decrease their prices to keep the competition up.
