The system is newly build. The bios loads just fine and all the hardware is detected. I have the CD as the first device on the boot sequence.
When I load the installation disk it spins and then the message "insert boot media" is repeated forever
The only solution I can see is the take my old HDD which is IDE and boot using it, and then install XP to the new HDD. And I dont know if that would even work. Any help you can give would help.
If I remember correctly, you have to press the F12 key when booting. A friend of mine ran into a similar problem. It sould be another F key not certain
Either the cd is not bootable or the bios isnt holding. Try pressing F2 at the first bios screen. This works for many oems - Dell, HP, etc. Homebuilds I am not sure of.
Double check the bios and you might even set the cd-rom as the only boot device if needed. Just remember youll need to set the hard drive as first boot once windows is loaded.
