After i mentioned to my friend that i havn't noticed a difference by switching from 512Mb ram to a 1024mb, he said that win XP not fully utilizing 1 gig of ram, that i need a 64 bit OS. He said regular XP utilizes only 512 and the rest still swaps from page file. I couldn't belive my ears!!! Is this true? Do i have to switch to 64 bit OS now?

Windows 98 and me didnt use more than 512 memory without some hacks. XP can use upto 4 GB of ram, although many boards only see 3 gig.
If you want to check do a ctrl-alt-del and look under performance tab. It will show you the installed memory and how much is being used. Load up some programs and it should go above 512.
