Hi this is my first post & dont have a clue about overclocking so im looking for a step by step guide on what settings to change.

I have an Asus PB5 Deluxe Mobo, Bios version 1004
Intel E6300 processor with akasa evo 120 cpu fan
2gb ocz PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
cpu idle temp is 43.5c

im not looking to max out my system just safe within limits overclock would be nice, thanks for any help & advice you can give.

That cpu temp seems a bit high for idle. My cpu idles cooler than that and it is the same chip @ 3.21ghz. I think that you need to see if your cooler/airflow/ thermal compound is set up right before attempting anything.

Thanks for your reply m8, the room the pc is in is quite warm anyway this might be the reason the cpu temp is high @ idle, what tempreture does your cpu run @ idle & what fan are you using ?

depending on the room temps, @ 3.21ghz im idling at 40-43c. Im using the zalman 9500 and i have the antec 900 case with all the fans I could get in it, so its like a little air conditioner lol

yep you need to order a good cpu cooler and you should be able to at least squeeze a little more out of there. Its up to you what you want. I have a zalman 9500, lots of people like the scythe ninja, thermaltake makes some nice ones too- just up to you and how much you want to spend.
