I got this Samsung HDTV 30" last week.
HDTV looks perfect on it, I am really happy with it overall.
Now there a little bugging me with DVD playback.
I can see artifacts on some DVD's. Some scenes are just crystal clear and
others appear to be blocky on color shades, especially gradients. To give
you an idea, look at a New Line DVD, the glowing blue around the New Line
logo gets all blocky.
I tried 2 players, one with DVI out and the other with components and it's
worst with the DVI out.
I tried that same disc on a friend DVD player and a Sony Wega HDTV. The
blocks do not appear.
I still have a hard time believing it's the TV sine the artifacts are
typical of MPG compression.
What could be wrong? What are the odd of 2 DVD players reproducing the same
"blocks" ?

Was the player with DVI output and upconverting DVD player? Are you sure
you had it set to output the upconverted signal, not just 480i or 480p?
This could potentially be a scaling problem.
In general gradients are very difficult for mpeg to encode so it could be as
simple as that. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to see it on your
friend's tv.
You should try taking YOUR dvd player and hooking it up to your FRIEND'S tv.
That will allow you to figure out whether it's the DVD player or the tv
causing the problem.
