I've just recently bought an NVIDIA 8800GTS EVGA PCI-E 320MB card and I'll be using a 500W power supply. Do you guys think the power supply will be enough for it or do you think I should go higher? Say a 600W power supply. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the reply and advice to read the sticky. I didn't know too much about power supplies before reading that. I've been searching on the net trying to find some information about how much power this psu puts out but I can't seem to find anything. However, the name of it is: NZXT PF-500 500Watt Power Supply.
I've read that the brand "NZXT" is only purchasable by getting a NZXT case (which I did). The case name is: X-Discovery Mid-Tower Case 420W.
Also, I've been reading how this specific power supply isn't compatible with SLI motherboards. The motherboard I have is...well, here's my specs...
CPU: Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6400 CPU @ 2.13GHz 1066FSB 2x1MB L2 Cache EM64T
Case: X-Discovery Mid-Tower Case 420W
Power Supply: NZXT PF-500 500Watt
CD Drive: 18X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER
Fans: INTEL LGA775 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK + 3 EXTRA CASE FANS
Motherboard: (Quad-Core Supports) Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard
Memory: OCZ PC2 6400 2GB(2x1GB Dual CH)

Bad quality PSUs tend to die faster then quality units, when a PSU dies there's always the chance it could take a couple components with it. It also has a pretty low efficiency, 65%, so it'll consume more power then a high quality unit.
I've checked out the Corsair 520HX. Seems to be pretty superior (compared to the GameXStream) from what I've read in reviews. By the way, I love this forum. The next time I build a system I will definitely be seeing what you guys here think. Thanks A TON.
Just got my new PC today, popped in the 8800GTS 320MB and the 2GB OCZ RAM and it's running pretty well. I haven't tested it out too much and I'm probably not going to. Not until I get my new power supply. I've decided to go with the OCZ GameXStream ATX12V 700W Power Supply. I've been reading reviews on how it's really quiet, light, and an overall really good power supply. I've never owned any OCZ products until now, and from what I'm experiencing right now, I'll be buying their stuff from now on. Thanks again guys!
