The AMD system @ Default is outperforming a E4300@ Default by a sufficient margin
Conversely, if you plan on some overclocking fun, the E4300 all the way. :)

True, but seriously, how high do you think you could oc an E4300 with an ESC mobo? An ESC mobo that Frys is willing to pretty much give away.

An ESC mobo that Frys is willing to pretty much give away.Even 300FSBx9 for 2.7GHz should beat a 3-3.2GHz 6000+(at much better TDP/heat levels), or any air-cooled x2 for that matter. Now, IIRC, with the Fry's deals...you get the mobo for nothing, and therefore can grab a decent mobo...and pawn the ECS off on someone else...maybe even get $20-$25 for it. :D

Both of you are correct

We are all on the same page....

Stock - AMD
OC - Intel

I'll add my agreement to that.

I really don't think you can beat the 6000+ for price/performance. If you're going to overclock then go for the C2D, but I wasted a lot of money on parts to overclock with and decided it wasn't worth the risk...

6000+ trades blows with an E6600, only go for the E4300 if you're planning on overclocking.

By the way, if you're planning to use that bundled mobo you should consider the volt pin mod to overclock the E4300 to 2.4Ghz.

Yes, and another impressive X2 is the $170 5000+ on newegg.

Currently, even in price, as well as performance, a C2D e6600 is neck-and-neck with an AMD 6000+, so I don't necessarily agree with your statement.

However, April 22, after the price drop, I believe we will see a major paradigm shift....

...a popular enthusiast processor from Intel potentially costing less than a directly comparable AMD counterpart at OEM levels...

...Sales after that should be interesting....

...It will also be interesting to see the marketing schemes for both companies afterwards....hopefully a price war :D :D

alas....Anyway, that wasn't the topic of the OP...

edit - wording change.
