I just bought the Thermatake Toughpower 750 model# W0117RU ($120 at CompUSA I couldn't resist). This PS has 4 12v rails rated at 18a each and I was looking at the EVGA 8800GTS 640 KO which Newegg states requires 26a available on the 12v rail. Is this correct so therefore I won't have enough power to run this card.

That's what I thought I just wasn't sure. After I made the post I thought about it and I thought there was no way it could take that much power. So what exactly is that number, is that the total system draw with that card, is it the combination of the Pci-e slot and the 6 pin connector. I'm just wondering how they come up with that 26a and how can I find out what the card itself draws.

the only way to tell accurratly would be to use a clamp-on
amp probe and a dvom.

this would give you up to minute and exact amps being pulled.
but it is not worth it.

just enjoy your sys. man 8)

26a is for a fully loaded system with an 8800gts in it. This isnt a concrete figure, but just an 8800gts, nothing else, will consume around 11a. Mpilchfamily can give you a much more accurate answer.

That's what I was looking for, thanks. I just wanted to know about how much power it would consume under load. I did read a review where the reviewer hooked up 6 pin y connectors and ran 2 GTX's on this PS. I don't know if I would even try this but it shows that it wouldn't have a problem with the GTS.
