I have 2 computers, both with win 98SE. Computer #1 has a D-link 614+ wireless router that connects to the internet fine.

The other (computer #2) has a D-link DWL-122 USB wireless adapter. I want computer #2 to connect to the internet. However, windows refuses to aknowledge there is a network connection present. When I click on internet explorer (5) it says no internet connection available.

The D-link software on computer #2 indicates it is getting a signal from the router and everything is working fine. Also, the D-link software on computer #1's router indicates a wireless connection has been made.

This tells me the problem lies in computer #2's windows not recognizing there is indeed a connection. It was previously set up for dial-up that worked fine.

How do I configure windows 98SE to detect this connection?
Are there any downloadable programs out there that will do this for me?
I have messed with this for the past 6 hours and am pulling my hair out.

If you haven't already run the Internet Connection Wizard, then do so. Tell it you wish to set up your connection manually, and when it asks, tell it you connect through a LAN.

If you have done this already, or it didn't help, then I need you to tell me:

1) Can you ping the router from a DOS box on the problem PC?

2) What are all your relevant TCP/IP settings?
