Here I have gotten a new modem from my possy for internet because my last one was all tripin on me. Anyways, now that I have the new modem which is a (ZyXEL prestige 600 series) all pluged in to my (NETGEAR MR814v2) router and ready to go it sends a connection to my computer and my computer says I have an internet connection at about 100 Mbps but when I go to my firefox it isn't able to go to any websites so I'm all like . I can only get onto the actual internet by plugin my modem directly into my computer instead of plugin my modem into my Netgear router and then into my computer. if anyone can help that'd be GRAND!! thanks and if you need any more info just reply back. THANX
Hi, erm right, u need to log in to your router, find the options for the internet connection and make sure its set to dial out through the modem etc to aquire an internet connection. Assuming it is, is the modem showing as connected? does it have any status lights on the front?
you may also have to use the network wizard again in windows to aquire the way in which it will connect to the internet. When you run the wizard it should say something like, do you want to use the connection currently available, or words to that effect.
The connection you are seeing in windows is that between you and the router, not you and the internet.
OK the modem does definetly connenct to the internet that's why I'm typing right now. The problem is that My modem works fine but It isn't configured with the router or whatever. Like you said I now know that I need to get that setup wizard disc and that will probably do the trick the only problem is that My grandmother missplaced when installing it last so I'm pretty much screwed like a philips screwdriver at Home Depot. The lights, connection, And everything is fine I just really need that damn disc. My internet was all good before but then my old modem started doing heroin or something and went on a fritz. I just need that disc. Do you know any other way I can Get that setup wizard. Gosh I wish Jesus would come down from the heavens and hand me that disc. Hey THANKS FOR RESPONDING!!!!!
Don't worry, you don't need a disk to do anything. Well asuming you don't need to log into the router, all you need to do is run the 'Set up a home or small office network' wizard from within my network places.
Dear god my life has a better meaning right now. It all good can't explain brushin teeth but if you want to know how I shall hope to recieve a future message from you.....PEACE!!!!!
