C2D 6600 Heat Problem!!!

Just finish my first build, everything is nice and running fine.

The only thing is that the CPU temp on the nvmonitor shows at idle 45c to 48c and runing games like fear or supcom shows 59 to 61c.


In the bios it shows 35 to 37c.
So 10c difference?????!!!!????? What the hell!!!!

I use a thermaltake Matrix case, inside the case the temp is a constant 33c.


Can anyone tell me what is the problem?
Do i need to start thinking of buying a new cooler?

Try a different program like Speedfan or Intel's TAT and see what they say.

Just install Intel tat and the the cpu temp idle is 41 to 43c and under tat workload for 5 minutes it stopped at 59c.

The strange think is that the intel tat shows two cores but it shows the processor as a Pentium m , go figure!!!

Im living at the moment in Indonesia and the weather is very humid and hot. A Friend of mine as a C2D 6600 also here and is temps are around 36c but is gc is a 7600 with a passive cooler, so i was thinking the difference in temp from his is maybe because of my gc gts that is idle at around 57 to 60c!!!

Is that Normal???And do i need to buy a cooler or i don't need to worry?

Yeah, ill start worrying if the temp goes above 65c. I am going to start looking for a cooler to buy, just to play it safe...

(friend bought this one is very nice but is very bulky a heavy!!!)


My friend here as is pc under the ac the whole time maybe with around 22c constant ambient temp, that must be the reason that is is getting a lower temp of 4 to 5c than me.
