Windows 7 does not come with a mail client installed. You will need to download and install one. Windows Live Mail (WLM) is free from Microsoft. Also mentioned here is Thunderbird, also free.

Personally I would recommend you check with your ISP (Internet service provider) to see what they support and recommend because that is what they will also likely have specific instructions on how to setup and use.

If you use a 3rd party email system, then use whatever they recommend and support.
