Are extra power cables dangerous?

Hey, I Just got a 700w gamexstream and this thing has power connectors coming out the wazoo. I lower my cdrom to the last bay and put the extra cables in the first 3 bays. But I'm still nevous because my last power supply exploded. Is there any chance that one of the connectors could short themselves out on a piece of metal? or are there caps I could buy so I wouldn't have to worry. Thanks in advance for your help.

While it's possible in some cases it's highly unlikely, and most psu's will shut themselves off if they short out. If you're really paranoid, get some of those caps, or just put some electrical tape over the ends.

I've just got all my extra psu connectors wired tied together and placed into the empty 5 1/4 bays as well and the last thing I'm worried about is them shorting out. It's all good...

Don't store bent paper clips in your system chassis and you should be okay
