I had my front panel LED system power plugged in backwards into the MOBO header for about a week or two. Can that cause system instability or damage to the motherboard? 8O

If you are talking about just the 2 wires to the PWR LED then no. If the LED is plugged in backwards then it appears to the MB that nothing is plugged in at all. Current only flows in one direction in an LED

NO it can't hurt anything, as LEDs(diodes in general, well there is a kind that will allow backflow at a certain point, but thats not the case here) are one way paths. so backwards is like not plugging it in at all.

EDIT
Zorg beat me to it
